|October 25th 2018||All you West Ealing Ad-Finem players, please note that the Presentation Night is now at Rosedale BC on Thursday 8th November 2018. Contact Bob Wilsher with any queries. Start time is 7.30pm|
|September 17th 2018||Our 'Top Club Men' had a victory on Saturday at Leamington, beating Worcester 3-2. Unfortunately on Sunday they came up against Norfolk in the semi-finals and there the run ended. Still, a magnificent achievement to get that far. There's always 2019 to look forward to!|
September 9th 2018
There were mixed fortunes for West Ealing bowlers at the Ealing & District Semi-Finals Day held at Brentham.
The Men's Pairs final will be an all-West Ealing affair after Jay Head and Paul Cater defeated ECUBC 27-10 and Romily Hunt and Robin Innes beat Springfield 16-9.
The Women's Pairs too will be an all-West Ealing final, as Karen Ryan and Sue Butcher beat Springfield 21-7 and Mags Hodgson and late-sub Lu Green made a dramatic recovery from 12-24 down at 14 ends to pip Hayes 26-25.
Peter Howland also had a narrow win in the Singles Plate, beating Lyn Ive of Rosedale 21-20.
Elsewhere though, there were defeats for Karen Ryan in the Women's Singles against Mary Ainsby (Hayes), Dave Godfrey, Ejaz Faruqi and Peter Howland in the Men's Triples against Brentham and the same trio together with Steve Higgs, who lost in the Men's Fours to ECUBC.
In the Mixed Pairs it was double defeat, as Paul Cater and Su Butcher were beaten by Hayes and Julia Harries and Dave Ayton lost out to Brentham.
September 3rd 2018
West Ealing added another three titles to an already-successful 2018 over the weekend, but all in a nail-biting manner.
Firstly, at the Richmond and Barnes Finals Day held at North Sheen, West Ealing took on Ashford in the final of the League. With the rink skipped by John Carey having won 26-12 and Dave Ayton's rink having narrowly lost 20-23, it was left to the quartet led by Paul Cater to confirm the title. But a fortunate wick by the Ashford skip gave Ashford a single shot on the last end to grab a 18-17 win for our opponents. Despite a 63-53 score line, the idiosyncrasies of the league rules, the 2-2 points score line meant the title would be decided by an extra end played by Dave Ayton's rink, which they duly won.
Later, Dave Ayton, together with Ejaz Faruqi and John Carey competed in the Richmond & Barnes Triples final against hosts North Sheen. They trailed 17-19 entering the last end, but grabbed a 3 to take the crown 20-19.
Meanwhile, over at Hayes, our women looked to retain their Middlesex Double Fours title against Holtwhites. Signs were good, as they led 33-13 at 12 ends, before a spirited fight back by Holtwhites meant the sides went in to the last end all-square. But thankfully both West Ealing rinks picked up a single shot on the final end to win the title 40-38. The side comprised of Julia Harries, Mags Hodgson, Megan Hunt and Sue Butcher, Karen Ryan, Glynis Hillier, Janine Bancroft and Lu Green.
|August 31st 2018||Following the success of the Men's Top Club Team they now got to Leamington on 15th/16th September. |
This clashes with the scheduled date for our own Club Competitions and some members might be in both sets of finals, or wish to go and support our lads at Leamington. Therefore our Competition Secretary, Rob, has contacted all Bowls Committee Members to seek authorisation to move the date back to the next weekend 22nd September. Having had no responses to this e-mail (good or otherwise) the date for the Club Competitions Final is now 22nd September.
Rob will also update the Club notice boards with this change
|August 28th 2018||All our competitors at Leamington Spa had some success albeit fairly short lived. If you wish to see how they all faired, this link https://bowlsengland.247.tv/ should let you see exact results.|
However, we still have representation at Leamington in the shape of our Men's Top Club entry. They overcame North Sheen BC on Monday 27th to get into the last 8 of the competition. This will take place on September 15th at Leamington Spa, time not yet known..

Well what a weekend. In very wet weather making the greens quite challenging for both the girls and boys.
In the County Double Rink the girls beat North London by 2 shots in the semi to put them once again in the Final to be played at Hayes Botwell on the 2nd September. We don't know yet who we play as the 2 teams - Holtwhites and Ladygate never played due to a flooded green . Well done girls, a fantastic result
Meanwhile over at Hendon in the morning rain Paul Cater, John Carey, Robin Innes and Stan Medhurst unfortunately lost the final in the Senior 4's and Chris Ryan and Glen Adams were extremely unlucky to loose their under 25 pairs final. Unlike the other comps it is only the outright winners of these comps that go to Leamington . Commiserations to all of you
In the afternoon we had our second champions who are representing Middlesex in Leamington in the triples of Rob Green, Craig Hill and Barry Wheeler. Well done to you all
A big thank you to the bowls supporters who have given great support so far. Especially to the 2 Daves - Carter and Godfrey who are always there to support and we still need that support to continue if you can.
This Sunday - 5th Aug the boys are in the Top Club against Tilehurst BC. Playing at HOME at 6pm they really need all the support they can get.

At long last the shirts will be delivered on Tuesday 17th just in time for the boys top club. Those that need to pay need to pay up before getting their shirts
Your bowls Secretary

A message from Sue, your Bowls Secretary:
Hope everyone is well and got trough the cold weather well. Outdoor season is nearly upon us and its time to start getting some dates in your diary
We are having a Pre-Season get together on Friday 20th April @ 7pm Come down, have a drink and catch up with those you haven't seen for a while. There will be some nibbles too. Diaries and County books will be there to pick up and other competition forms to enter. Don't forget your cash for the comps and diaries if you haven't already paid for them. Talking about paying this is a gentle reminder to everyone that ALL monies need to be paid by the end of April so why not pay on the get together night. The 20th is also 500 club so even more reason to turn up
As last year myself and Ann will be arranging bowls teas plus refreshments for hosting games and club entry matches. As last year I will be making the majority of menus to make it easier and less stressful for everyone. This year we are not expecting the men to cook ( unless of course they want to) but what we would like and hope you will all do is one man per game on a friendly or hosting game to help with the clearing away and washing up. There are enough men in the club that you probably will only do it once or maybe twice . Rubber gloves will be provided to safe guard your soft hands 🤔😊 A list will go up of games for you tick what you can do but we know you probably cant tick until the week the game is picked but be warned my little washer uppers if no name goes down a name will be picked on the day
Ladies there will be a tea meeting on Saturday 21st April @11am for you all to choose the games you can do. Again if everyone plays fair and spreads the load or helps in any small way it will make things easier and it wont come down to the same people. If there are gaps or people are not around on that day names will go onto a date and then you will have to swap or change yourself
There will also be working parties on the weekends preceding the pre season get together. Paul and Duncan will be looking for help so keep your eyes peeled for the dates
If you know others that are not on email please pass on the info. I will be texting them and sending some in the post
So get the outdoor clothes washed, polish up your balls and get your purses and wallets out and I will see you all on the 20th April
24th March 2018
The Ealing and District AGM will be held on Sunday 8th April 2018 at 10.00 am at the Ealing Central Union Bowls Club, Craven Road.
ALL MEMBERS OF BOWLS CLUBS AFFILIATED TO THE ASSOCIATION MAY ATTEND (although only committee and two members from each club may vote!)
If you want this Association to continue, then please come to the AGM and assist us. (http://edba.weebly.com/)
